Term Two – Trauma-Informed Spotlights

Wednesday June 4th  13:30 – 15:30 AWST/ 15:30 – 17:30 AEST

Featuring three keynote presenters, hosted by Dr Helen Street

The past ten years has given rise to a fast-growing interest in trauma-informed practice in schools.  Not only has concern for young people dealing with trauma both in and out of schools increased; the realization that ALL young people can benefit from trauma-informed practice is increasingly evident.  In this webinar we ask four leaders in trauma-informed practice to tell us about one key aspect of the practice that they would like to see universally embraced in schools.

TERM THREE

RECORDINGS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL EVENTS

Term Three – New Thoughts on Motivation

Wednesday August 13th  13:30 – 15:30 AWST/ 15:30 – 17:30 AEST

Featuring three keynote presenters, hosted by Dr Helen Street

As much as we might want students and staff to be motivated,  motivation in schools has often been misunderstood, difficult to support and hard to sustain.  Over the past forty years we have gradually shifted our focus from ‘fear and compliance’, to complex reward systems, to a needs-based approach to self-determination.  In 2025 a multitude of varied approaches are often found in a single school, or even in a single class. So, what really works? And more importantly, where do we need to head in our pursuit of the motivated child.

TERM FOUR

RECORDINGS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR ALL EVENTS

Term Four – Mental Health First Aid

Wednesday October 15th  13:30 – 15:30 AWST/ 15:30 – 17:30 AEST

Featuring three keynote presenters, hosted by Dr Helen Street

Mental health first aid is generally defined as providing immediate help and guidance to someone experiencing increasingly poor mental health, or a mental health crisis. For teachers, this means learning the necessary knowledge and skills to support colleagues and students in crisis until either that crisis is resolved, or appropriate, other support is in place.  In this webinar we ask four experts in MHFA to introduce, explore and teach a key element of MHFA they deem it vital for educators to learn.
